The Giant Sequoia, a much loved feature at the Natural History Museum has undergone restoration work recently. The preservation of the Giant Sequoia slice involved using resins supplied by Stort Chemicals to make the protective coating. This was applied to the wood and a different formulation applied to the surrounding bark. The whole treatment took 3 conservators 8 weeks and condition maps were created to record signs of deterioration and previous treatments.
